Description: These choruses are early works dating from the late 1980s. They lay aside for over ten years. During my time at NEC I had the good fortune to become acquainted with some exceptional muscians. It was finding the right voices that prompted me to finally have them done. Like the Four Motets, they may be performed with one voice to a part, but whereas the motets should not be done with more than five voices to a part, these choruses remain effective with larger ensembles.
First performed April 30, 2001 in Boston University's Marsh Chapel by the New England Conservatory Contemporary Ensemble. Nina Faia, soprano; Martin Near, counter tenor; Daniel Mutlu, tenor; Brian Church, bass.
