Serenader, op. 14
songs for bass baritone, vibraphone and english hornduration: ca. 12:00
Description: Serenader was written (as are most of my works) in reaction to personal events. The “program” is pretty clear. The title comes from the poem by George Dillon which will be added to the cycle along with two other songs. The set of four songs was first performed April 30, 2001 in Boston University’s Marsh Chapel by Brian Church, bass baritone, Timur Rubenshteyn, vibraphone and Sherwood Wise, english horn.
I. Rain Has Fallen (Joyce) II. Sometimes (Whitman) V. Disenchantment (Dickinson) VII. O Do Not Love Too Long (Yeats)
