Glass Flows op. 1
for string orchestraduration: ca. 8:00
Description: atmospheric, meditative. Explores sonorities of a monochomatic ensemble. Glass Flows (“flows” as a verb) was originally a piece for double choruses of mixed voices on the Lux Æterna text. This piece might still exist somewhere on my shelves in ms but I haven’t gone looking. After a reading by the strings of the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tamara Brooks, the piece was later orchestrated for full orchestra (at the suggestion of Malcolm Peyton - who was able to pursuade me it was doable) and came to be “Susan,” the 4th movement of the ballet Mind Fields.
